How is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Linked to Nutritional Deficiencies? –

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show today discussing the shooting in South Carolina. Asserting that although the shooter Dylan Roof was taking antipsychotic drugs he was also nutritionally deficient. Contending soldiers coming back from war with PTSD in is due to no nutrients found in the food. Stating that he believes most of the mental health problems in the U.S. are caused in part by nutritional deficiencies.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article a study that has found sitting too much is linked to anxiety disorder. The study from Australia found a moderate link to sitting a lot and anxiety. Researchers contend sedentary behavior could disrupt sleep patterns, metabolic health and social interactions. Another study from William & Mary College found that student who reported eating fermented foods such as yogurt, sauerkraut, pickles and kimchi had few social anxiety symptoms.
